About Bottle, Apple, Orange
Painting still life is not very common for me, however, this was a different day. Being interested in exploring and developing as an artist, I decided to work on this.
Previously, I had been playing with the bicolour palette, just using two colours and a lighter value. I took the bottle, apple and orange and played with the arrangement. I tried out different styles and painting them from different angles and arrangements.
Eventually, I found that I liked this contemporary minimalist style. I like that all the information about the objects is there, however it doesn't need to be obvious to understand the shapes.
I tried several different colour combinations and after a while of trial and error decided that this was the best fit. The dark blue emphasises the outline but also adds shadow. The darker yellow, mimics where the light catches the objects and the highlights.
I think its an exciting painting as it is not just the typical still life. In an abstract way, the painting captures the objects and I could see the painting working really well in either a modern living room or a kitchen environment.
